WARNER ROBINS, Ga (VMG) – A popular taco chain is no longer coming to Warner Robins. Plan’s to open Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in Warner Robins at 4040 Watson Boulevard have been scrapped. “Fuzzy’s was sold at the corporate level,” claims Matthew Davis, the restaurant’s developer. Davis, founder of Albany-based Davis Companies, was originally planning to put a new, drive-thru prototype of the restaurant on the property. However, the 1.18 acre lot will now hold a Take-5 Oil Change store. Davis helped develop the other two restaurant franchises on the larger 4.6 acre multi-tenant lot, 7 Brew Coffee and Slim Chickens. He also assisted with the development of Jim N’ Nicks BBQ next door.

Jim N’ Nicks and 7 Brew have both opened and seen their respective successes and heavy business, however, Slim Chickens has yet to open and now Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is no longer coming. Restaurant franchisee, Richard Maddox, was the planned franchise operator for the Warner Robins Fuzzy’s and also owned a location in Leesburg, Ga. However, his Leesburg location closed in October 2023 after being open for only one year. According to a previous report by Fallon Howard of Albany’s WALB News, Maddox told the station about the Leesburg Fuzzy’s, “the restaurant closed due to low traffic,” and “was not able to operate due to low finances.” When asked if there were plans to develop another Fuzzy’s Taco Shop somewhere else in Warner Robins, developer Matthew Davis said, “Nothing immediate.” While future prospects of this fun Mexican restaurant coming to the International City seem well, fuzzy, chances of Slim Chickens still opening are high.

The chicken chain is based out of Fayetteville, Arkansas and the Warner Robins location has had it’s business permit since December of 2023. However, despite having its’ permit and despite the restaurant’s development having been completed for some time, it still remains empty. A manager of another Slim Chicken’s franchise located in Georgia, said of the Warner Robins location and its’ delayed opening, “It’s changing ownership.” When asked about an estimated opening date for the new eatery, developer Davis claimed, “I expect it to open soon.”
