Warner Robins, Ga — A big time restaurant franchise has made it’s way to Middle Georgia. Jim ‘N Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q, a fast-growing, Alabama-based barbecue chain, is opening its’ 47th location in Warner Robins! The new eatery held a soft-opening Friday night for family and friends and is excited to announce that their doors will be open to the Middle Georgia community and all patrons during their Grand Opening on Wednesday, February 28th.
Founded in Birmingham, Alabama back in 1985, and originating out of a “reclaimed old pizza restaurant,” Jim ‘N Nicks specializes in slow-smoked, hickory style pork and beef that celebrates the heritage of revered bar-b-q masters. Employing chefs and pit masters, their food is a “celebration of Alabama, but a reverence for the bar-b-q tradition of the South.”
It’s a celebration that many have taken part in, enjoyed a taste of, and tried to join. The franchise boasts of 17 locations in Alabama, 18 in Georgia, and 12 more scattered across four other southern states. The Warner Robins location saw approximately 2,000 applicants throw their resume in for a position, however, the 4,000 square ft restaurant will employ 90 workers.
The new eatery is located at 4060 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA 31093 and is described as a quick-casual plus style. In the aftermath of COVID-19 and with the change in U.S. restaurant trends since 2020, food corporations have seen a big shift from customers dining-in to more pick-ups, delivery orders, and drive-thrus. Jim ‘N Nick’s took notice of this and is now putting more emphasis on smaller restaurant types that are more convenient for pick-up, the Warner Robins location being one of them. However, dine-in patrons can enjoy a cozy, modern-southern aesthetic and a nice outdoor patio area.
The menu carries everything from beef brisket, ribs (classic and baby-back), pulled pork (original and Carolina-style), catfish, BBQ chicken, smoked turkey breast, smoked wings, and more. Entrees come with classic southern sides, called “trimmings.” If you haven’t busted your belt on all the savory grub, there’s also homemade pies available for dessert. (Pro-tip: Oh, you’ll definitely want to ask for some Morgan County White Sauce a.k.a. Alabama White Sauce with the Smoked Wings. It’s a very popular BBQ condiment in the neighboring state and is harder to find on this side of the Chattahoochee River.) While at the soft-opening, we spoke with a Warner Robins resident who is an Air Force Reservist. Despite his career and life travels, he was trying Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q for the very first time, and said of his baby-back ribs and smoked wings, “Delicious! Finally, some good freaking food.” Middle Georgia, come try it for yourself, this coming Wednesday, February 28th.
